IDR Network explainer video

IDR law is a boutique law firm specialising in will disputes and contentious probate issues. Most of their work is via referrals from practitioners working within family succession – either private client solicitors or financial advisors working in estate management.

IDR Law required a short, engaging video explaining their new membership site – the IDR network.

The network provides useful content for lawyers and other practitioners who have clients facing will disputes.

The aim of the network is to support practitioners who need initial advice and information when dealing with contentious probate issues, but also to guide them along the process if their clients require specialist representation for inheritance dispute resolution.

The business objective of the network is to encourage these practitioners to refer their clients to IDR Law.

I was hired to devise a storyboard, write the copy, and create an explainer video describing the network.

I communicated closely with stakeholders to understand the product and devise a clear explanation of the network, outlining the problem and presenting IDR law as the solution.

The main challenge was understanding the purpose of the network and describing the concept accurately, in simple terms that fit exactly with how the CEO and founder of the company envisaged the network.

I began by reading all literature within the company, speaking to stakeholders, and learning about how the referral process works with inheritance disputes.

Next step was to create a rough storyboard to present to stakeholders, and confirm I was on the right path. Following feedback and a few iterations, I completed the copy and began the final video production.

With a combination of stock photography, animated graphics, and existing website footage, I edited the final video and hired a voiceover artist to record the script. The video platform only allowed for a ninety second sequence. This was tight, but just about long enough to explain the concept simply.
